Major area of research interest is ship production and ship production planning. This interest ranges from training and education to analyses of engineering and management data for optimized process operation. Projects currently underway, or recently completed, include short course presentation of advanced ship production technology; development of group technology concepts appropriate for outfit planning; comparative studies of shipbuilding productivity in U.S., Japan and China; development of software for control cost in a ship repair environment where zone technology is applied; and, analysis of a program to emplace concepts of continuous improvement in a major naval shipyard.
